Aesop Rock - 'Skelethon' (Album)

Since it was founded in 1995, the independent hip/hop record label Rhymesayers Entertainment has slowly but surely established itself as a rising force in the underground hip/hop industry. These days, renowned hip/hop duo Atmosphere lead an underrated roster of impressive indie rappers, ranging from skilled acts such as P.O.S and Jake One to widely respected MCs such as Brother Ali and MF Doom. Earlier this year, the label flexed its growing muscles when it was announced that famed underground rapper Aesop Rock had finished working on his sixth studio album, which would be his first effort released under the Rhymesayers label. Six months later, fans finally have the chance to get their hands on Skelethon, Aesop's first LP since 2007's None Shall Pass. Fans of Aesop Rock were rewarded for their patience in waiting for a new release, as Rhymesayers decided to put the entire album on Youtube for your listening pleasure. For all the people who complain about record companies' perceived greediness, this decision is certainly an unusual one in today's digital download age. Still, it has created a buzz around the album and many observers have spoken out about how much they appreciate Rhymesayers doing this - to the point where it makes them want to purchase the record even more. Give the album a (free) listen through the Youtube video provided above, and should you choose to support Aesop Rock's latest effort, you can purchase Skelethon on Fifth Element, iTunes, Amazon, or Google Play.
