David Tevenal: Tattoo Flash

The work of tattoo artist, David Tevenal, has been passed around the past couple of weeks after a video hit the stream on Vimeo. Tevenal resides in Columbus, Ohio where he works at Memento Tattoo and Gallery.  The work speaks for itself. His style features vibrant gradients with starched lines.  In the tattoo flash presented, he constructs a flaming skull with crossbones and snake to a dubstep back track. While it may not sound like the most savory imagery for some art lovers, the talent is undeniable. Each line and shadow is filled with precise detail and perfection. Also, a technique is used by taking two pen tips and rubbing them together for a weaker ink spread. These videos are providing visual entertainment for art enthusiasts in a new way outside of the gallery houses.

The dissemination of artistic media on the internet is at unimaginable highs. Artists of all sorts have found themselves a new medium to present their skills and more interestingly, the processes behind it. With virtual sharing booming, we can confidently expect more of use of this digital resource.
