Hip-Hop’s newest sensation and PROERA representative Joey Bada$$ has released the second set of visuals from his critically acclaimed debut mixtape, “1999” with the Va$htie produced “Waves”.
Joey has taken the blog scene by storm with a lyrical, laid-back rhyme style displayed over a collection of boom-bap inspired beats from the likes of hip-hop luminaries such as Lord Finesse and MF DOOM. Other standout tracks like “Righteous Minds” and “Snakes”, which breathes new life into J DIlla’s “ Alien Family”, recall the 90’s era that Joeys cites as his inspiration.
Thus far Joey has succeeded in completing many of hip-hop’s rites of passage with a wildly successful debut mixtape, a headlining performance at SOB’s and co-signs from producer Hit-Boy and fellow underground emcee Curren$y.
On the heels of the gritty “Hard Knock” video “Waves” finds Joey and his PROERA crew going about a typical day in their Brooklyn stomping grounds outfitted in some of the newest drops from streetwear brands such as Diamond Supply Co., Grizzly Griptape, and Mighty Healthy.
