With the 2012 Summer Olympics in London coming to a close many sneaker companies are looking to cash in on the success of the games and its athletes. On August 18th, Jordan Brand will be releasing releasing a two pair package named the Gold Medal Pack (GMP). The GMP features the Air Jordan Vi in a gold and white colorway and the Air Jordan Vii in black and gold. Each pair comes with an American Flag inspired dust bag for safe storage.
Nike was not done, with the popularity of Kevin Durant at an all time high, a gold version of his fourth sneaker will be releasing as well on August 18th. Featuring a mostly gold colorway with red accents and black midsole this release will likely mark the last of his fourth sneaker as he has been spotted already wearing the fifth installment of his signature shoe.
Finishing with 104 medals 46 of which were gold the USA had a successful 2012 London Olympics and these sneakers will be sure to reflect that. We will be keeping a close eye to see if any more gold shoes pop up to commemorate the USA’s success.
