Apple tops UK’s CoolBrands List 2012

Each year, CoolBrands releases a list of the UK’s most influential and favoured brands of the past year. Who do you think made the Top 20?

3,000 British consumers and a panel of 39 experts took part in the survey for 2012, which judges companies based on elements of uniqueness, originality, style, authenticity and desirability.

Here’s what they came out with:

1. Apple
2. YouTube
3. Aston Martin
4. Twitter
5. Google
6. BBC iPlayer
7. Glastonbury
8. Virgin Atlantic
9. Bang & Olufsen
10. Liberty
11. Sony
12. Bose
13. Haagen-Dazs
14. Selfridges
15. Ben & Jerry’s
16. Mercedes-Benz
17. Vogue
18. Skype
19. Nike
20. Nikon

It’s not exactly a surprise that Apple came out on top, but there are definitely a few interesting ones in there. Two ice-cream companies, really? Where’s Instagram?

YouTube is reportedly a big riser this year, having come 10th in 2011. Twitter, Skype and Nikon made the top 20 for the first time whilst Maserati, Ferrari, Chanel, Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen dropped out of the lineup entirely.
