Matt Smith ending tenure as the Doctor

The famous British Sci-Fi show will be introducing the twelfth incarnation of the Doctor. Matt Smith, the current Doctor, recently announced he would be leaving the show after the upcoming Christmas special.

After Doctor Who returned to television in 2005, the show has seen Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant and now Matt Smith play the role since 2010. The show will celebrating with a 50th Anniversary special this November, followed by the annual Christmas special in December.

Showrunner Steve Moffatt says they still don’t have an actor set to take over, but many fans have already taken to who they would like to see pilot the TARDIS is the newest edition. My pick? Richard Madden, best known for Robb Stark in Game of Thrones. He has a rather unfortunate demise in this past Sunday’s episode, so personally, I would love to see him take on the role. Probably not very likely at this point.
