NIKE ROSHE RUN REVEALED: FULL 2012 PREVIEW

Driven by an ardent appreciation for the silhouette's simplicity and style, fans of Nike's new Roshe Run are feverishly snatching up pairs of the elegantly stark, low-cost sneakers. An early contender for release of the year perhaps? Here's a look at the rainbow of colours coming at us in 2012. There's digicamo, plush suede and canvas premium joints and even a trail boot! The brainchild of Nike Sportswear designer Dylan Raasch, the Roshe Run is a sneaker scaled back to the barest of basics. With the name drawn from 'Roshi' - the title commonly bestowed upon a Zen master - the shoe draws inspiration from a Zen garden. With an outsole evoking carefully laid stepping stones and an insole mimicking a freshly raked rock garden, the Roshe Run represents an interplay of serious and playful design. With an eye to keeping costs low and carbon footprints small, the usual method of creating a sole with a cushioned mid and rubber bottom was eschewed for a single-foamed unit which was both durable and comfortable, thus cutting back on manufacturing costs. With a handful of two-toned palettes now available, we look ahead to the remainder of 2012 to see the soulful sneakers flip some fresh new fabrics.

ADIDAS HARDLAND CROC

Croc skin, fire red suede and a gum sole are on the menu for adidas Blue, with this new reptilian take on the Hardland silhouette. The 80s inspired basketball silhouette gets the outdoor treatment with sturdy D-rings eyelets, yet it holds an avant-garde fashion edge with the futuristic three-striped tongue-strap detailing we saw on the Hike Sandal only days ago. Cop these crocs now at KithNYC.
