BAPE X SPERRY TOP-SIDER SEAMATE

Back in the late 90s/early 2000s A Bathing Ape made a name for itself on the back of surprise collabs with more staid and serious brands, inverting their familiar wares with a quirky Japanese inventiveness and that ubiquitous ape head print. 2011 has been something of a back-to-basics year for Bape with the collabs coming through thick and fast. The latest label to be Baporized is Sperry Top-Sider whose sturdy Seamate cops some creamy yellow and tan camo canvas uppers. Check them out at Bape.com.

BAPE X ADIDAS SUPERSTAR 80S (B-SIDE)

When the original BAPE x adidas Superstars burst out in 2003 the packaging soberly stated that 'the respect is mutual'. Despite BAPE aping the Shelltoe later in the decade with their Skull Stas, these brand new simian Superstars suggest that the respect has endured. With blue leather stripes set against an ivory suede upper, the shoe features BAPE's familiar camo on the insole plus an ape head logo on the heel which is overlaid with a military triple chevron (unlike the diagonal stripes of the 2003 original). Set to drop on August 13th.

BAPE AUTUMN WINTER 2011 PREVIEW

Is Bape officially back? After trickling back into the blogosphere over the past few seasons, streetwear's most quizzical simian seems to yet again be flavour of the month. This preview of Bape's brand new Autumn Winter collection seems to confirm the brand's reaffirmation with a return to the weirdly warped Americana that helped garner its legendary cult following in the 90s. Featuring collaborations with Baby-G, heritage American sportswear brand Ebbet's Feld and m-flo and Teriyaki Boyz MC Verbal's AMBUSHED jewellery brand, the standout is the swinging Archie-style comic tee. check out more at Bape.com.

BAPE X TRANSFORMERS COLLAB COMING JULY!

Okay like last week I mentioned that Nigo had tweeted a picture of an vintage Optimus Prime pimped out in Bape. Now comes official confirmation that this 80's era Ape camo Convoy will be coming out on July 29th! Authentic right down to the OG box, the release is accompanied by a stack of Baby Milo x Transformer tees plus a few Bapexclusive store rarities. In a year where Bape has reclaimed some its blog cred it will be interesting to see if this release strikes with the same impact as their Marvel collab of 2005.
