Bentley is offering a vision of the future with a dramatic new Sport Utility Vehicle concept, EXP 9 F, at the Geneva International Salon d’Auto. The Company’s designers and engineers have created a compelling new take on the Grand Touring Bentley - a vehicle that feels equally at home at an opera gala performance, on the sand dunes and the overtaking lane of the autobahn.
Unmistakably a Bentley – yet a Bentley like none before it – the EXP 9 F could herald a third Bentley model-line alongside the bespoke Mulsanne and the high performance Continental GT, GTC and Flying Spur.
Breitling, the pioneer of aviation wristwatch intruments that offers a slide rule type rotating bezel has been a partner of Bentley for quite some time now. The watchmaker has been focusing a lot on diving sports and automotive a lot lately, and with the release of the new Continental GT, a V8-powered supermachine, Breitling would not let this milestone go unnoticed. With it, they will be releasing a limited edition, Breitling for Bentley GMT chronograph piece. The watch is packing with complications just as any Bentley car is, along with a full chronograph piece, it also offers a GMT-hour hand displaying a second timezone for the city of your choice. The inner red bezel is rotatable and displaying all major cities and its corresponding time. The piece will be available in both steel or rubber strap and is limited to only 250 pieces. Expect the prices to be as bank breaking as any Bentley car would be.
The new 4.0 litre, twin turbocharged V8 Continental GT coupé and GTC convertible achieve exceptional standards for power-to-emissions in the high luxury sports car sector.
This remarkable, new Bentley V8 engine delivers maximum power of 500bhp (507PS/373Kw) at 6000 rev/min and an extraordinary peak torque of 660Nm (487 lb ft) which is available across virtually the entire rev range from 1700 to 5000 rev/min, providing exhilarating performance and effortless power delivery in the Bentley tradition. Combined with a new close-ratio 8-speed automatic transmission, this translates into a sub-5 second acceleration time for the 0-60 mph (0-100km/h) sprint and a top speed of over 180mph (290km/h).
At the same time, the new V8 Continental models achieve outstanding levels of fuel efficiency and CO2 emissions for the luxury performance sector and are capable of traveling over 500 miles (800km) on a single tank of fuel. Full and official figures will be released in early 2012.
The arrival of the new V8 Continental models fulfills Bentley’s environmental commitment to produce a new powertrain that delivers a 40 per cent improvement in fuel efficiency and CO2 emissions.
