New On The Road Trailer
A trailer has been released for the upcoming film based on Jack Kerouac's On The Road. Starring as the three main characters are Sam Riley (previously seen in Corbijn's Control), Garret Hedlund and Kristen Stewart. The film is directed by Water Salles, who previously made the Che Guevara bio-pic The Motorcycle Diaries. A pretty good movie, even though I personally didn't get that attached to it. Apparently he used that movie as his pitch to the studio to make this movie, which isn't that weird considering the similarities between the two. As always, the making of this movie has made a lot of fans of the book upset. One of the things mostly cringed about is the fact that Twilight star Kristen Stewart is starring as the female lead Marylou. While I'm no Twilight fan, I have faith in Salles and thought Stewart was more than ok in Adventureland, and so I don't really see what the problem is. Of course, when a movie is made about a book like this, there's going to be angry people, considering its status as a bible for the beatnik generation. Co-starring in the movie is among others Amy Adams, Viggo Mortensen, Steve Buscemi, Kristen Dunst and Terrence Howard and it will premiere at the 65th Cannes Festival in May. Personally I can't wait to see it. What do you think of the trailer?
