Marc Jacobs Discusses, Smoking, Horrible Design and Art with German Interview

German Interview caught up with Marc for an on-camera interview in which the designer is delightfully unedited about such things as how awesome smoking is, his former drug use, how he portrayed Victoria Beckham as a “product,” and not being proud of some of his more commercial designs. Read more

Futura 2000 “Futura 2012 – Expansions” Exhibition at Galerie Jerome de Noirmont Video

With much talk surrounding Futura 2000′s recent exhibition at Galerie Jérôme de Noirmont entitled “Futura 2012 – Expansions”, Glltn have compiled this short film unveiling the process of one piece of work. Renowned for bancing raw graffiti ethos with a more abstract approach, having refined his style for the gallery scene during the 80’s Futura was a pioneer, and with a unique style is still evolving. Louis Vuitton Marc Jacobs Exhibition at Les Arts Décoratifs

This exhibition tells the stories of two men, Louis Vuitton and Marc Jacobs (artistic director of LV), and will highlight their contributions to the fashion world. An analysis rather than a retrospective, this parallel Vuitton-Jacobs comparison will provide new insight into the fashion system during its pivotal periods, beginning with its industrialisation and ending with its globalisation, focussing also on its artistic professions and crafts, technological advances, stylistic creations and artistic collaborations. Over a century separates Louis Vuitton and Marc Jacobs, but both come together in the excellence of their creativity at this once in a lifetime exhibition at Les Arts Décoratifs in Paris. Be sure to stop by the exhibition starting March 9th, running through September 16th.

The Milo Project

Planning on visiting the Paris area? Beware of unidentified flying persons, all part of The Milo Project, a Parisian graffiti artist's exploration into the realms of realsim as well as his full scale attack on gravity. The Milo Project’s main objective is to plaster the streets of Paris with realistic mannequins that not only “defy gravity” but also assimilate themselves into the Paris landscape. “Amongst wandering entities, they represent the border between the concrete and the dream-like,” hanging from the sides of anything from skyscrapers to bridges. The artist builds mannequins with a strong concern for realism but at the same time disputes the concept by placing them in “imaginary” spaces, creating an effect that goes against everything you were taught in Physics. These solitary, faceless figures are creating quite a fuss on the streets of Paris, causing onlookers to question their surroundings, to blur the line between the real and the surreal, the possible and the impossible.
