Mos Def, now going under the moniker Yasiin Bey, has created a remix of Kanye West and Jay Z's highly popular song N****s in Paris. The remix is called N****s in Poorest. In Bey's version, the messages and topics covered are extremely different from the original. N****s in Poorest is in honour of the 42nd anniversary of Malcolm X's death. This song is also the first of Bey's Top 40 Underground series, which will feature more reworked hip-hop songs, and will convey similar messages seen in N****s in Poorest.
The artist formerly known as Mos Def, and now Yasiin Bey, presents the video for his highly charged "Niggas in Poorest," launched today in honor of Malcolm X's death anniversary. Yasiin decided to put some real words & real thoughts into this track. While Jay & Ye's version was much more about having fun & spitting more of a luxurious rap, Yasiin went with real world news & whats really going on in the world. As Mr. Bey would say, "Don't get caught up in no throne."
